H’ART Museum presents: The Leiden Collection. This exhibition offers a unique and intimate look at 17th-century Amsterdam as seen through the eyes of the great Dutch masters.

Seventy-five paintings tell the remarkable story of Amsterdam and the life of its residents in the seventeenth century. Three of the works are part of the series The Five Senses. A self-portrait of the young Rembrandt from 1634 is also on display.

Through the eyes of some of the most influential painters of the century, with no fewer than seventeen portraits by Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669), the human being is central to these paintings: young and old, rich and poor, beautiful and ugly. This collection is being presented to the public in its entirety for the first time.

Other prominent painters whose work is on display in the exhibition include Frans Hals, Jan Steen, Ferdinand Bol, Gerard Dou, Frans van Mieris and Maria Schalcken. Together they offer a glimpse into the daily reality of 17th-century Amsterdam residents. In addition, a special work by Johannes Vermeer has been restored especially for this occasion.
