Amsterdam by train

Amsterdam Central Station is within walking distance of the Amsterdam city centre. If you prefer, you can take a taxi or travel by bus, metro or bicycle – there’s no better way to become acquainted with Amsterdam and the surrounding region!

Train

Amsterdam is easily reached by train. The city has eight railway stations:                           

-Amsterdam Central Station (Google Maps);

-Amsterdam Zuid  (Google Maps);
-Amsterdam RAI  (Google Maps);
-Amsterdam Amstel (Google Maps);

-Amsterdam Bijlmer/ Arena (Google Maps).

Amsterdam Central Station is Amsterdam’s main railway station and has an excellent connection to:
–Schiphol Airport (16 minutes);
–Utrecht (31 minutes);
–The Hague (50 minutes);
–Haarlem/ Zandvoort (20 minutes/ 30 minutes);
–Rotterdam (46 minutes/ with the NS intercity direct).

All NS stations have ticket offices and ticket machines (debit card or cash) where train tickets can be bought. At the ticket offices, the staff can also provide you with any NS-related information.

Many train stations feature lifts, ramps, and escalators, and most trains are equipped with facilities for wheelchair users. Amsterdam Centraal Station

From the Airport to Amsterdam Central Station

A Direct Rail Link connects Schiphol International Airport to Amsterdam Central Station/ Amsterdam Lelylaan, Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Amsterdam South. The fastest and most convenient way to get to the city center is to Amsterdam Central Station. Trains run every 10 minutes (airport schedule) from platforms 1 and 2 in the main arrival plaza and cost just € 4,90 (Amsterdam Central Station) for a single journey and return ticket € 9,80.

Have your pass or coins on hand to use the ticket machines to avoid the lines and the € 0.50 surcharge at the ticket office. A fine of € 70 will be added to the fare if you do not have a valid ticket with you on the train. From Amsterdam Central Station you can walk or take the tram or the bus to your destination. On trains you can use the free Wi-Fi.
