In the fourth week of May, Amsterdam is completely taken over by Amsterdam Art Week. This week is all about contemporary art and serves as a meeting place for national and international artists, art lovers, professionals, creative types and collectors.

During Amsterdam Art Week you have the opportunity to view countless exhibitions and attend events, both in well-known museums and unique, lesser-known locations. During this lively week, symposiums, conversations with artists, performances, digital art, gallery tours and live painting events are organised at all these special locations.

The programme will be announced on 15 April.

Programme highlights

*Tuesday 20 May – Art Table Symposium & Preview Opening Stedelijk Museum: Start the week with inspiring conversations and an exclusive opening at one of Amsterdam’s most iconic museums.

*Wednesday 21 May – Opening AAW x Rijksakademie & Public Opening at Capital C: Explore ground-breaking contemporary art at the Rijksakademie and celebrate the official kick-off of Amsterdam Art Week. For the public, there is a special opening of a new exhibition at our valued partner Capital C.

*Thursday 22 May – Galerie Previews & Festive Gallery Night: Visit the latest exhibitions in the galleries and enjoy an evening of festive openings at the city’s most prominent galleries.

*Friday 23 May – Opening in the Oude Kerk: Experience an impressive art presentation in the historic Oude Kerk, where heritage and modern creativity come together. During the day there will be conversations with artists, studio visits and guided tours of private collections.

*Saturday 24 May – West Night: Discover innovative art spaces and projects in Amsterdam West, with contributions from Pasta and the Maarten Group, during an enthralling afternoon and evening full of art and culture.

*Sunday 25 May – Family Sunday: A special day full of workshops, tours and activities for art lovers of all ages, including the Kids Buy Art programme.
