Vincent van Gogh and Rembrandt van Rijn are undoubtedly among the greatest artists the Netherlands has ever known. Despite more than 180 years between their lives, they have more in common than you might think. A closer look reveals that the works of the baroque master and the world-famous post-impressionist painter have more in common than you would ever expect.
The exhibition Van Gogh & Rembrandt in Amsterdam tells the story of how the two painters are connected, how Van Gogh became fascinated by Rembrandt and was even inspired by him.
‘Van Gogh & Rembrandt in Amsterdam’ is an enchanting son-et-lumière performance that takes you through light and sound into the fascination Vincent van Gogh had for Rembrandt during his stay in Amsterdam. It shows how the great master’s paintings, etchings and landscapes were an inspiration to him.
The Noorderkerk is a common place for both artists; they attended Sunday services there. Now this church helps tell their story, with the centuries-old walls transforming into a dynamic 360° canvas. Van Gogh’s voice echoes in the church through his letters to his brother Theo.
‘Van Gogh & Rembrandt’ is a unique sound and light show in Amsterdam that offers an unforgettable experience and stimulates all your senses.
