Every year on March 8, International Women’s Day puts the spotlight on important issues such as sexual violence, empowerment, care, labor, racism, discrimination, and economic independence. The national theme for 2026 is #NietMijnRecht (Not My Right), emphasizing that women’s rights in the Netherlands are still under pressure, both in everyday life and in policy.<\/p>\n
This campaign is a call for awareness and action, aimed at women, organizations, and municipalities to work together for greater equality and structural improvement.<\/p>\n
Despite progress, problems such as the wage gap, femicide, and restrictions on abortion still exist, making International Women’s Day still very much needed in 2026.
